Honor, Respect, Devotion to Duty: MK2 Elizabeth Haworth
Petty Officer 2nd Class Elizabeth Haworth was recently recognized with the Master Chief Petty Officer Pearl Faurie Inspiration Leadership award at the 2018 Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium in San Diego. Haworth is a leader, a mentor and a teacher. In her spare time, whether at homeport or on port calls, Haworth is an avid volunteer with local communities and president of the unit’s Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.

Each year the Sea Service Leadership Association Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium brings together service women and men, decision makers, policy influencers and thought leaders to address global, military challenges and encourage and strengthen the leadership development of veterans. On June 15, 2017, the SSLA hosted an awards luncheon honoring a couple of our own Coast Guard service members for their exemplary leadership and accomplishments in advancing diversity and inclusion within the Coast Guard.

The Capt. Dorothy Stratton Leadership Award and the MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award were established in 2001 to recognize women who demonstrate exceptional leadership. Lt. Cmdr. Heidi Koski and Petty Officer 2nd Class Ashley Cruz were the 2016 recipients of the awards, respectively. The awards were presented at the Sea Service Leadership Association’s 29th Annual Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium.
