Adm. Papp accepts key to new Coast Guard headquarters

Secretary Napolitano and General Services Administration (GSA) Administrator Dan Tangherlini officially opened the DHS Consolidated Headquarters campus yesterday with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the newly built U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters building.

Honoring BMCS Terrell Horne III

More than 1,000 people gathered at U.S. Coast Guard Base Los Angeles – Long Beach in San Pedro today to attend a memorial ceremony honoring Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III, a Coast Guardsman who was killed in the line of duty Dec. 2, 2012, while carrying out law enforcement operations near Santa Cruz Island.

On the morning of June 25, hundreds of people from all over the country are at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., checking event schedules and looking over base maps. It’s reporting-in day and the lives of 252 young men and women are about to change – dramatically.
