Shannon Scaff, an instructor with the Coast Guard’s Maritime Law Enforcement Academy in Charleston, South Carolina, and long time friend of Lt. Cmdr. Dale Taylor, decided to invest his grief into something positive: a test of his mind, body and will.

We owe them an eternal debt of gratitude.
