Engineering (CG-ENG10) is a specialty designation for positions and officers. Officers with this designation have demonstrated progress toward any of the engineering subspecialties through education, experience, and PQS completion.

And that is just what he did aboard Bainbridge Island as he became responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery aboard the ship.
