Kodiak man convicted for murder of Coast Guard employees in Kodiak

U.S. Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced that a jury of 6 women and 6 men, found James Michael Wells guilty of the murders of Petty Officer 1st Class James Hopkins and retired Chief Petty Officer Richard Belisle on April 12, 2012. Both Hopkins and Belisle were murdered at U.S. Coast Guard Communications Station Kodiak.


Two men convicted of Federal charges in killing of Coast Guard officer during operation targeting drug smuggling boat

Two Mexican nationals were found guilty today of federal charges related to the death of a Coast Guard officer who was fatally injured in late 2012 when he was thrown from a Coast Guard vessel that was rammed by a “panga” boat operated by defendants.
