A Legacy Not Forgotten

In memory of Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell E. Horne, the Coast Guard held a wreath-laying ceremony in the Pacific Ocean near Smugglers Cove, California, Dec. 2, 2017. Horne died after succumbing to injuries sustained during a law enforcement operation in 2012.

Response boats-medium prove worth across the country

The Coast Guard produced and delivered 174 response boats-medium, or RB-Ms, to 105 stations across 30 states and territories to replace its 41-foot utility boats, which were retired in 2014. Since the first response boat was delivered in 2008, coxswains around the country and their commanders have consistently lauded the response boat’s capabilities to perform the full spectrum of Coast Guard response boat missions.

BMC Horne stood the watch on the front lines of Coast Guard operations throughout his nearly 14 years of active duty. He previously served at Coast Guard Stations Emerald Isle, Humboldt Bay and Charleston, and also sailed aboard the CGC DALLAS. Throughout his Coast Guard service, BMC Horne’s professionalism and commitment, like those before him, ensured that we were always ready to answer the nation’s call.
