The Long Blue Line: Arctic Cutter Bear—“A symbol for all the Service represents” Part 1

Coast Guard Cutter Bear is an extraordinary ship on which legends were made. The cutter and its crews rescued Lt. Adolphus Greely and five of his members from an expedition in Greenland, solved starvation problems with native Alaskan villagers by bringing in reindeer to the area, performed several mass rescues of American whalers and undertook many Bering Sea Patrols.
