National Scout Jamboree 2017
The National Scout Jamboree served as the perfect opportunity to share the Coast Guard’s 11 different missions and safe boating techniques to scouts, visitors and staff from around the nation. Alongside members from the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard tested the mettle of some enthusiastic Boy Scouts, helping them earn the Coast Guard patch.
Boy Scouts get hands-on experience at Coast Guard Academy
The Coast Guard Academy, in cooperation with the Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America, recently hosted a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) merit badge program for over 120 Boy Scouts from five different states. Cadets and Academy instructors taught hands-on programs in chemistry, engineering, electricity and electronics, emergency preparedness and citizenship, among others.
