Week in the life of the Coast Guard 2015: Thursday

On Thursday’s Week in the Life series, Air Station Los Angeles crews conduct cliff rescue training in Rancho Palos Verde, Calif., boarding team member evaluations in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., advanced culinary training at Fort Lee, Va., an active shooter exercise in Boston and advancement ceremonies at Air Station Detroit.

Coast Guard on the move

Coast Guard members learn how to pursue and neutralize fleeing vessels in a course known as Noncompliant Vessel Pursuit, or NCVP. The course, designed for boat drivers as well as boat crewmembers, teaches Coast Guard men and women how to approach a vessel that may be in violation of a federal law such as drug or migrant smuggling.
