2016 Video of the Year: Haunted History: Bosun Piner

The eighth nominee features a mystery at Coast Guard Station Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Chief Petty Officer Matt Wolanzyk shares the story of Chief Warrant Officer William Finley Piner who served as officer-in-charge of the station during the Prohibition Era. Piner fell overboard and drowned in 1936, and some believe he may be haunting the Coast Guard station. Is this the top video for the year? Cast your vote!

The seventh nominee features Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat crews from Coast Guard Station Quillayute River in La Push, Washington, Station Siuslaw River in Florence, Oregon, Station Tillamook Bay in Garibaldi, and Station Yaquina Bay in Newport, conducting heavy weather surf training throughout 2016. The sixth nominee features two members of Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point, Hawaii. 2016 Video of the Year: Perfection

The fourth nominee features the Coast Guard’s Ceremonial Honor Guard. In a 360-degree view, the honor guard is shown practicing silent drill techniques in Alexandria, Virginia. The Ceremonial Honor Guard helps represent the Coast Guard to world leaders and dignitaries through ceremonial operations such as performing rifle routines, conducting military funeral honors, casket bearing and flag folding.
