General Messages Weekly Roundup

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos rescues a survivor of a migrant capsized boat during the afternoon of Dec. 6, 2018, in waters just off Isla Saona, Dominican Republic.  The crew of the commercial tanker Sea Board Ranger rescued 20 other migrants after locating the capsized vessel earlier in the morning. Coast Guard rescue crews continue to search Dec. 8, 2018 for seven other migrants who reportedly were also onboard the capsized vessel.

The BRS opt-in period ends on Dec. 31 2018, for eligible members.

ALCOAST 417/18 – DEC 2018 FY19 “C” SCHOOL DYNAMIC QUOTA ALLOCATION
“C” School quotas are now determined on a quarterly basis under the new DQA process. This allows FORCECOM to review and redirect the unused dollars from that quarter into the next quarter.

ALCOAST 418/18 – DEC 2018 PERIODIC HEALTH ASSESSMENT (PHA) UPDATE
In an effort to make it easier for Coast Guard members to know when their PHA is due, the birth month period requirement is re-instituted.
