ALCOAST 260/17 – Aug. 2017 Selection of Coast Guard winner of the 2017 Spirit of Hope Award

Congratulations to Trees for Troops for being awarded the 2017 Spirit of Hope award. The Spirit of Hope Award is named in honor of Bob hope and is presented for outstanding service to the U.S. armed forces, entertainers and other distinguished Americans and organizations whose patriotism and service reflect that of Mr. Hope.

ALCOAST 256/17 – Aug. 2017 Eight Bells – A Sea Service Celebration, Oct. 18, 2017

The Coast Guard Headquarters Office of Cutter Forces, the Heart of the Service, is sponsoring a Sea Service Celebration centered around Oct. 18, 2017, that honors the everyday traditions common aboard Coast Guard cutters. The celebration includes an audio and video contest, and all commands are encouraged to host appropriate functions.

ALCOAST 258/17 – Aug. 2017 Solicitation for the 2018 Coast Guard Engineer of the Year award

This message solicits nominations for the 2018 Coast Guard Engineer of the Year award. Deadline for nominations is Oct. 13, 2017.

257/17 – Aug. 2017 Capt. Frank Erickson and Cmdr. Elmer Stone award recipients

The Capt. Frank A. Erickson Award is presented to the Sector North Bend crew of CGNR 6559: Lt. Zachary Wiest, Lt. Wesley Jones, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason Caristo and Petty Officer 3rd Class Chad Morris, for their heroic efforts on Feb. 14, 2017, responding to two people trapped inside a waterline cave near Yachats, Oregon.

The Cmdr. Elmer Stone Award is presented to the Air Station Cape Cod crew of CGNR 2317: Cmdr. Wesley Hester, Lt. Cmdr. Joshua O’Brien, Petty Officer 2nd Class Julio Guillermo and Petty Officer 3rd Class Thomas Carter, for their heroic efforts on Dec. 1, 2016, in responding to a critically ill newborn on Martha’s Vineyard.
