Earlier this week, I spoke before Congressional members, Department of Homeland Security leaders and Coast Guard stakeholders at my first State of the Coast Guard Address as your Commandant. I began by talking about you – the 88,000 active duty, civilian, reserve and auxiliary members of the United States Coast Guard.
I started with you because you are why the state of our Coast Guard is strong. Put simply, you are the best talent this Nation can bring to bear. Despite the fiscal uncertainty we face, no one returns more operational value on every dollar than the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard.
At the address, I also spoke about four strategic trends facing our Service and why investing in you is a smart choice for America. The below videos highlight these areas. Use these videos to spark conversations at your units, in your communities, and with your leadership. The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard and I also look forward to hearing directly from you during “all hands” and in social media forums.
I am humbled by your service, and I am committed to telling your story everywhere I go while you remain focused on our missions and service to the American public. In doing so, we will meet the demands of today while preparing for tomorrow.
