Diversity Leadership Summit 2010 Wrap-up

It was another action packed day at the Diversity Leadership Summit.  The participants spent the morning in breakout training, which received rave reviews, and were treated by a second day of powerful speakers in the afternoon.

Frederick Douglass, IV, great-great grandson of the famed abolitionist, was especially impressive as he talked about the power of diversity.  Leon Harris, anchor for ABC-7 here in Washington, discussed his experiences and how the media often shapes our discussions on race, gender and other issues of diversity.   And Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Professor of Sociology at Georgetown, gave a strong and broad talk on dignity and respect.

Today, rather than using this post to elaborate on the many topics covered by the day’s presenters, the participant’s will talk about diversity and what it means to them.  In the YouTube video linked to the image on the right we asked some of the attendees what their definition of diversity is.    Their responses were thoughtful and, well, diverse.
