  • As reported earlier on Coast Guard Compass, a 3-year-old boy at the center of a custody battle was located on a sailboat with his father some 100-miles off the coast of Florida and is being transported to Fort Myers by the Cutter Crocodile. The sailboat carrying the boy and his father was spotted by a search plane late last night and met by the Crocodile and the Kodiak Island this morning at which point the boy was removed from the boat. The father and his sailboat are being towed back to shore by the Kodiak Island.

  • Fall is the most dangerous season for boaters according to boating accident statistics from 2008. Rapidly changing weather conditions combined with frigid waters and improper use of life jackets combine to make November the most dangerous month of the year followed by October and December.
