itCG-search ends for pilot, community honors fallen Guardian, two boats collide, drugs seized

  • A nearly four-day, 3,029 square mile search for an overdue aircraft ended when the pilot is found deceased in Rio Inabon River, Puerto Rico. Coast Guard units along with Civil Air Patrol, state and local resources began the search Saturday when the aircraft never landed at its destination.

  • A local community honors a fallen Guardian during a dedication ceremony yesterday. To remember Petty Officer Ronald Gill on his birthday, a stone memorial monument was erected at the junior high school he attended.   • Early yesterday morning, a shrimping boat and a catamaran collided off of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina causing the shrimping boat to sink. Coast Guard resources responded after receiving radioed distress calls and an EPIRB alert. No injuries were reported and the Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
