  • Station Fort Myers Beach in Florida received two remarkable awards for superior performance – the Sumner I. Kimball Readiness Award and the CG-210 Unit Intelligence Award. Units must score a 90% or higher on the difficult and extensive biennial operational readiness assessment to receive the Sumner I. Kimball award. The Coast Guard only awards the CG-210 Unit Intelligence Award to one large and one small unit a year for superior intelligence support.

  • The barge is free! Yesterday, the Compass talked about a fuel barge that was stuck in the mud in the Columbia River. After transferring the fuel off the barge, it was finally light enough to break free from the mud. Coast Guard officials are investigating the grounding.
