 A rescue helicopter crew from Air Station San Francisco hoisted a 55-year-old man with a hand injury from a merchant ship 35 miles West of Pacifica, CA, Nov. 2, 2009. itCG-Migrants intercepted, Toledo thanks, fishermen rescue, performance award

Guardians intercepted four Cuban migrants and a suspected smuggler yesterday. The migrants were traveling in a 19-foot boat 70 miles south of Key West when they were interdicted by the crew from the 110-foot Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne. The migrants were returned to Cuba and the smuggler was handed over to Customs and Border Patrol agents.

Guardians transported a 54-day-old infant girl from American Samoa who required immediate medical attention. The child was flown on a Coast Guard C-130 based at Air Station Barber’s Point, which was assisted by a Disaster Medical Assist Team (DMAT). The infant was successfully transfered to hospital facilities in Oahu yesterday.
