Week in the life of the Coast Guard: Weekend
Posted by LT Stephanie Young, Saturday, August 11, 2012
Since 1790 the Coast Guard has safeguarded our nation’s maritime interests, providing a 24/7 presence along America’s rivers, ports, coastline and on the high seas. But while the Coast Guard’s presence and impact is regional, national and international, our operations are often out of sight.
Coast Guard Compass set out to change that. From July 30 to August 5, Coast Guard men and women captured a week in the life of the Coast Guard to highlight the missions we perform on a daily basis. From a port security unit on a morning patrol off the coast of Kuwait to flight operations off the coast of Seattle, you’ll get a glimpse of just how much the Coast Guard does as we feature a day-by-day snapshot.
Below are a few shots from Saturday and Sunday, but you can check out all the pictures from the weekend at Facebook or Flickr. This is also the end of our Week in the Life of the Coast Guard. Thanks for sticking with us and we hope you enjoyed seeing the amazing missions performed by the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard.
