Just a Question: Has the Rudder been turned to “Hard Starboard”? As Former Master of this Vessel in the 1990ies, the Automatic Helmsman had an irregular Error which causes the rudder to turn in hard Starboard Position and to remain there. Only Way to bring the Helm back into normal Function was to switch to Manual and to bring the Rudder manually to amidships, after that the Automatic could be reengaged. In two years as the ships master I was only to dertimine that this must have something to do with the wiring between Bridge and Steering gear as the Control system was working on 24V DC, suggestion to the Owners at that time to replace the wiring during regular docking has caused fruitless as the owner was planning to sell the Vessel. Vessels Name was at my Time “Harmony” Flag: Malta
