No exciting small boat videos. That’s a shame. The boatcrews work hard, take a longer time to get o/s, and rarely get appreciated. One other note. As you can probably tell, I’m a retired Boatswain Mate who ran boats for years in several busy small boat stations where I participated in numerous challenging and heartstopping rescues. Unfortunately, due to the fact that there was no officer present to validate the extremes that myself and my crew(s) had to undergo, there was never any kind of award given for our efforts as opposed to officers who are able to strap on awards whenever they see fit. Just an observation by a retired Boats.

Although it is 2012 i don’t know if one of the men on UTB 41 got the video but i was rescued at sea by them out of marathon. My hat is off to the merchant ship Leopold Staff and its crew for turning around to assist in the rescue mission. The secured my boat and brought me aboard to offer warmth and food. They assisted in every way till the saints of the seas arrived in 41489 out of marathon to pic me up and tow my vessel back to safety. I was adrift and had drifted in to the gulf stream merchant vessel lane. It was 6 to 8ft with occasional 10s And a sustained wind of 25mph out of the north and i was in a 23ft center console. It was a bad situation for me but thanks to them, my friends boat i made it home safely. Thanks to Penn Yan for making such a tough boat and all of those that assisted in the rescue. I would probably not be here now if it were not for there efforts. God bless you guys.
