- Guardians rescued two men from the hull of their capsized boat in Tampa Bay yesterday. The Coast Guard launched a small boat after receiving a phone call reporting the overturned boat near the Howard Franklin Bridge. The men were rescued and uninjured.
- A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak helicopter and crew hoisted two missing teenagers from Afognak Island yesterday morning near Kodiak, Alaksa. The two boys had gone hunting on Sunday morning but did not return as planned. The helicopter was able to quickly locate the boys unharmed.
- The Coast Guard responded to a distressed surfer yesterday in Half Moon Bay in California. The man had broken his board in the powerful waves and was left to tread water and dive through the crashing surf. Thankfully, the man’s girlfriend was watching from shore and called 911. While Guardians deployed in a small boat and helicopter, it was rescue crews from the Pillar Point Harbormaster and Coastside Fire Protection District that first came upon the surfer and made the rescue.
