Hot off the press is the announcement of the 2010 Coast Guard Photo Contest!

Many of you saw last year’s winning photos either here on the Compass or in the Coast Guard Flickr photostream. The Guardians captured some amazing images.

Think you can do better? Click here for submission details and suggested subjects.

Contest winners receive a plaque and their names announced in a Coast Guard wide message. Winning photos may be published in the Coast Guard Posture Statement and/or Performance Report (see Supporting Documents on the Commandant’s web page) as well as other Coast Guard publications. Selected photos will also be included in the Coast Guard Visual Information Gallery (CGVI).

This is a Coast Guard family competition. The contest is only open to active duty members, reservists, civilian employees, auxiliarists, dependents and retirees.

But, don’t wait to start snapping away… the deadline is December 15, 2009. The seasons are changing so it’s a great time of year to get some great colors and contrast!

I was wondering is there going to be a 2011 photo contest?I havent see anything out yet, and really think this is a proyect that should be keep going and eventually get more exposition to the media.

Wow! Those are some excellent photos. I’ve been an amateur photographer since I was about 18 so I know a thing or two about photography.

It looks like a fringe benefit of being a Coastie is being able to visit, see and photograph some of the most spectacular scenes in the world! The USCG would be a good choice for someone looking to enter one branch or another of the services.

    Congratulation to the winners!
