- DHS launched an official YouTube channel and connected it with component agency channels, including the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard’s 467 videos are the most popular, with nearly 200,000 views. FEMA ranks second, with 163 videos and about 44,000 views. Check out the channel here.
- Coast Guard and partner agencies are providing security today for the third annual Aguapalooza in Northern Virginia. If I may borrow a cliché… security may be the name but boating safety is the game. Guardians are urging boaters to be safe; don’t boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs and wear a lifejacket.
- A radio response from a missing boat offers a huge relief for a woman whose husband took their son out fishing and didn’t return as planned. The Coast Guard sent out urgent marine broadcasts and began searching for the missing fishermen on Thursday. The boat contacted the Coast Guard on Friday as it was approaching port and heard the call on the radio.
