- Yesterday, Congressman Himes took the helm of a Coast Guard 41-foot utility boat as Captain Ronan, commander of Sector Long Island, gave him a personal tour of Long Island Sound. The Congressman was able to see first hand what Guardians do everyday. It sure beats a stuffy office meeting if you ask me…
- Coast Guard and several local agencies responded to a gasoline spill in the Merrimack River in New Hampshire yesterday after a tanker truck over turned just past the I-95 bridge and spilled fuel into the river.
- Coast Guard Auxiliary wants YOU! This volunteer service is a great asset to the U.S. Coast Guard and is looking for people with all different types of skills to help out. Volunteers participate in waterside operations as well as planning and administrative work. With flotillas located throughout the nation, it is a great opportunity to help your community and get involved in Coast Guard missions.
